RABAT, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Morocco and Chad discussed here on Tuesday means to boost cooperation on tackling the climate change.
Morocco's High Commissioner for Water and Forests and the Fight against Desertification Abdeladim Lhafi met with Chad's Minister of Environment, Water and Fisheries Sidick Abdelkerim Haggar on issues including anti-desertification efforts.
Haggar expressed hope for a stronger cooperation with Morocco, praising its progress in terms of water resources management and the fight against desertification.
Chad is a desert country as over half of its surface is covered by sand, Haggar added.
For his part, Lhafi stressed the importance of protecting natural resources, particularly through the efforts against desertification, recalling the impact of land degradation on the security and stability of local residents.
He expressed Morocco's readiness to assist Chad in safeguarding forests and fighting desertification.
