SKOPJE, April 10 (Xinhua) -- Macedonian Ministry of Education and Science announced on Tuesday the proposal to change the Law on Primary Education that foresees to cancel Saturday classes for primary level education.

According to the ministry, the changes proposed in the Law on Primary Education will be such as the reducing of the number of students in the parallel, the external evolution of the ranking of primary schools, the limitation of the powers of directors, counseling with parents on children who use hate speech, as well opportunities for the advancement of gifted students.

The proposal will be open to the public's suggestions and comments for one month.

The law provides that students from the first to third classes to study 20 hours a week, students from the fourth grade up to sixth will have 25 hours and those from the seventh to the ninth up to 30 hours per week.

Moreover, the law foresees the cancellation of lessons on Saturday because the educational process is ineffective. For this purpose, the number of lessons will not be fixed but can range from 175 to 180 working days.

In regard to the number of students in the parallels the Law suggests it to be between 20 and 30, with a maximum of 24 students.
