NEW DELHI, June 9 (Xinhua) -- A major fire broke out Saturday inside a building in India's western city of Mumbai, police said.

According to officials, no loss of life was reported in the incident; however, two firefighters were injured during the operation.

The fire broke out inside Patel Chambers building in Mumbai's Fort area.

"This morning a massive fire broke out inside the building and within minutes it took the entire building in its grip," a senior fire service official told the media. "Around 14 fire tenders and 11 tankers are on the spot dousing flame and trying to prevent fire from spreading in the adjacent buildings."

Officials said part of the building collapsed due to the fire after which two firefighters were injured.

Television images show columns of smoke and blaze billowing from the building.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

Reports said the building was completely vacant when the fire broke out.
