ISLAMABAD, July 13 (Xinhua) -- At least 10 people were injured when a blast hit a convoy of a political party's leader in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Friday, local reports said.
The party leader, Akram Khan Durrani, was on his way to attend a public gathering when his convoy came under attack in Bannu area of the province, Dunya News said.
The former chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa escaped unhurt in the attack as he was traveling in a bomb-proof vehicle. However, people on three other vehicles of his convoy got injured.
The blast was triggered off by a remote controlled device and the explosive materials were fixed on a motorbike, according to local reports.
The injured people were shifted to a nearby hospital where five of them are said to be in critical condition.
Political leaders from across the country are busy in holding political rallies in the country to make a mark in the forthcoming elections.
