MOSCOW, July 20 (Xinhua) -- The Russian Armed Forces received over 600 new weapons in the second quarter of this year, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Friday.

A defense ministry statement quoted him as saying that Russian military enterprises supplied 11 warplanes of different classes, five troop-carrying Mi-8MTV-5-1 helicopters, 36 radar stations of various modifications and three warships, including the medium reconnaissance ship Ivan Khurs and the small missile ship Vyshny Volochek.

Shoigu said the Russian military also received varied engineering, automotive and communications equipment and ammunition.

In the first quarter, Shoigu said the weapons delivered included 23 BMP-3 armored infantry combat vehicles, a logistics support vessel, 10 warplanes and seven helicopters.
