WASHINGTON, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Ambassador to the United States Cui Tiankai has said that China and the United States are "still in the same boat" despite those noises in the United States that they should not.

Speaking on Wednesday at the 8th U.S.-China Civil Dialogue hosted by Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a U.S. think tank, Cui said that China and the United States are still faced with "fierce wind and huge waves" after all these years.

However, it is a mere "illusion" that any country can really change China, given the country's long history, he said.

He also refuted those arguing that China is a "revisionist" nation trying to "challenge the position of the U.S. and its dominance in the world."

"Our economic and trade relations are interdependent and mutually beneficial," he said.

The Chinese envoy added that the common challenge for both Beijing and Washington is "to navigate this boat through the uncertainties or uncharted waters, for the benefits of both our countries, and for the entire world."
