YANGON, July 30 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar has established an independent commission of inquiry on Rakhine issue, a statement from the President Office said late Monday.

As part of the national initiative to address reconciliation, peace, stability and development in Rakhine state, the commission is established to investigate the allegations of human rights violation and related issues following the terror attacks by the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA).

The four-member commission will be assisted by national and international legal and technical experts.

The Myanmar government has reiterated that if there is violation of human rights by the security forces in Myanmar with firm evidence, investigations will be made and actions will be taken according to law.

The ARSA extremist terrorists launched attacks on police outposts in Myanmar's Rakhine state on Aug. 25 last year, displacing a vast number of residents to neighboring Bangladesh.
