????Established in 2009, the Peacekeeping Center of China’s Ministry of National Defense is a modern training base, complete with indoor facilities for studying field rescue, landmine identification, multi-media use, simulated combat and English. Outdoor facilities include a simulated encampment and minefields, an urban environment training ground as well as roads for complicated driving conditions and sentry posts for military observers.

????The center has conducted exchanges and cooperation with more than 80 countries and 10 international and regional organizations to spread best practice in the selection, training, deployment and management of peacekeepers and logistics services. On June 19, 2013, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon visited, expressed approval of the construction standard and the training capabilities and said he hoped to strengthen cooperation between the UN and the center.

????Sources in the Peacekeeping Affairs Office of the Ministry of National Defense said the People’s Liberation Army has established a relatively sound peacekeeper training mechanism with the center as the key base, and plays an ever-increasing role in elevating the capabilities of peacekeepers to tackle complex and dangerous situations.

????After many years of research and effort, the center has won full recognition from the UN peacekeeping authorities. Designated one of the UN’s global training bases, it is qualified to train international peacekeeping instructors.
