XINING, China, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- After the matches on Thursday, Jingyilun's team led the women's table and made the semifinals, followed by Heilongjiang's first team, Jilin's provincial team and Harbin's first team in sequence.
Jiangyilun, a member of China women's national curling team, is the skip of her team in this tournament, and the team name Jiangyilun's team is named after her.
Jiangyilun's team made outstanding performances during the former matches and won all the four rounds. In the fifth round on Thursday afternoon, Jingyilun's team competed against another strong team Beijing century star's second team.
Beijing century star's second team stole 2 points and got a flying start in the first end, which frustrated Jiangyilun's team. They fought tit for tight to tie 3-3 in the first 4 ends, and Jiang's curlers stole 2 points in the 5th end before Beijing' s team took back 2 from the 6th. In the last end, Jiangyilun's team, taking advantage of being the second thrower, took one winning point, and edged Beijing century star's second team 6-5.
On the men's actions, Harbin' s first team kept expanding its advantages and beat the team of Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade 8-1. As a very young team, Shanghai' s team lost all the matches in this tournament. For now, the top four teams in men's field are Harbin's first team, Heilongjiang's first team, Harbin's third team and Zhejiang's provincial team.
Unsurprisingly, almost all of top ranked teams, in both men and women' s group, are from northeast China's provinces.
This 6-day tournament kicked off on Dec. 24, attracting 30 teams from all over China. The semifinals and finals will be on Friday.
