BERLIN, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- Eintracht Frankfurt came from behind to move 2-1 past Leipzig at the closer of the 23rd round of Bundesliga on Monday.

The "Eagles" secured their second straight win to move on the third place of the table after ending Leipzig's winning run following a 2-1 comeback victory on home soil.

Leipzig secured the early opener before Kevin-Prince Boateng and Timothy Chanlder turned the tides in favour of Eintracht Frankfurt.

Both sides staged a lively opening period and pressed forward. Frankfurt came close with a shot on target from Kevin-Prince Boateng before Konrad Laimer's square pass allowed Jean-Kevin Augustin to break the deadlock for Leipzig with only 13 minutes into the game.

The home side remained unimpressed and responded moments later as Leipzig failed to clear a corner with the consequence being that Timothy Chandler slotted home from close range to restore parity in the 22nd minute.

The visitors continued to pose a threat as Augustin missed the chance to ensure the lead for the second time. Frankfurt cut a better figure in front of the goal in the 26th minute when Boateng hammered home Ante Rebic's assist to make it 2-1 on the scoreboards.

Frankfurt kept it bowling and should have doubled their lead but neither Marius Wolf nor Rebic were able to make the most of their promising opportunities before the break.

After the restart, Leipzig pressed for the leveller on the road but Frankfurt staged a well-positioned defence and protected their narrow lead to the end.

"We started well into the encounter today and deservedly took the lead. Then we conceded two stupid goals and were not able to turn things around," Leipzig's Konrad Laimer said.

"The bottom line is, we lost deservedly today. The opponent was just better, had more from the game. Especially in the second half we lacked in stamina," Leipzig head coach Ralph Hasenhuettl said.

With the 11th victory of the season, Frankfurt jump on the 3rd position whereas last year's runner up Leipzig suffered their 7th loss to slip to the 5th place and out of the UEFA Champions League's spot.
