NAIROBI, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- Experienced Kenya Prisons setter Jane Wacu will not be part of the team's contingent when they depart for Cairo, Egypt for the Africa Club Championships.

Kenya Prisons is eyeing to reclaim the continental title and coach David Lung'aho has blended a squad of young and old players ahead of their departure on Friday.

However, he will have to do without Wacu in his new quest for Africa Club title. The 2018 Women's African Club championships will be held on March 6-15.

"I will not be part of the Prisons women's team to the African Club championship set for next week in Egypt. But I wish them success same to Kenya Pipeline," Wacu said in Nairobi on Wednesday.

Wacu, made her national team debut in 2006, and has been consistent playing at the high level for 11 years. The 32-year-old also played for Chamalieres (France) before returning home to rejoin Kenya Prisons. Last year, she signed for a year deal with Seychelles champions Anse Royale (ARSU).

This effectively rules her out of the tournament in Egypt. Her Seychelles club has not qualified for the tournament.

Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) has confirmed that 22 clubs will take part in the weeklong tournament.

CAVB Spokesperson Tarek Al-Adwar said Zimbabwe's team Harare City Club arrived in Cairo on Tuesday for a training Camp ahead of the tournament start on March 5.

"Harare City Club is the first team to arrive on Tuesday. Hosts Al-Ahly have their training camp in Slovenia until Thursday," said Tarek Al-Adwar on Wednesday.

Al-Ahly has won the Africa cup a record eight times, followed by Kenya Pipeline (seven) while Kenya prisons have lifted the trophy four times.

Other teams expected in Egypt are defending champions Carthage and Marsa of Tunisia, last year's silver medalist El-Shams Club (Egypt), Alexandria Sporting (Egypt), DGSP (Congo), Asec Mimosas (Cote d'Ivoire), Vision VB, Nkumba University (Uganda), BDF (Botswana), AS Douanes (Burundi), Muzinga (Burundi), Canon de Ndjii, VB Club (DRC), Injis, FAP, Bafia and Nyong et Kelle (Cameroon).
