KAMPALA, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Uganda is sending four athletes to the 2018 Shanghai IAAF Diamond League Grand Prix set to kick off in May.
Timothy Masaba, an administrator at the Uganda Athletics Federation told Xinhua on Monday that Jacob Kiplimo who came fourth in the 10,000m race at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games will be in China for the event.
The other athletes heading to Shanghai include Joel Ayeko, Stephen Kissa and Peruth Chemutai.
"We have already entered their names for the event and Juliet Chekewel could also be on the list if she gets her visa in time," Masaba said.
The IAAF Doha Diamond League will open the season on May 4 in Qatar where Uganda's double gold medal winner at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, Joshua Kiprui Cheptegei, is expected to take part.
