Fashion Week Australia kicks off with unique show

SYDNEY, May 15 (Xinhua) -- All eyes in the world of fashion will be centred on Australia this week as Sydney hosts some of the top designers, models and make up artists from around the globe.

With 40 individual shows and 98 designers, Fashion Week Australia began with a unique show from high-end local labels.

Somewhat isolated from the style hubs of London, Milan, Paris and New York, Fashion Week Australia's slightly tongue and cheek approach to the rest of the fashion world gives it its own flair.

Fashion Week Australia organiser Andrew Serrano said the increasing demand from China's consumer base is driving a lot of new concepts among designers.
