LJUBLJANA, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- A boutique exhibition of gold jewellery and tableware from China's Ming dynasty era (1368-1644) opened here on Thursday evening at the National Museum in Ljubljana.

Featuring 145 selected items made during the reign of the Chinese Wanli Emperor (1573-1620), the Gold of Chinese Emperors exhibition put on show high-quality and prestigious items made in 1601, including jewellery, golden tableware and flower baskets and vases.

These boutique items are invaluable and rarely leave China, Xinhua learnt from the Slovenian author of the exhibition Dasa Pavlovic and her joint Chinese curator of the exhibition Zhou Tianyou.

Zhou, who is also the director of the Qujiang Museum of Fine Arts in China's ancient city of Xi'an, said these displayed collection items had engravings of the imperial office confirming that they had the pure gold content of between 80 percent and 90 percent, and showing that they were made or finished in 1601.

The exhibition, which will be on display until Feb. 15, was officially opened by Chinese Ambassador to Ljubljana Ye Hao.

In return, the Slovenian National Museum will set up next year in China an exhibition of Silver handicrafts, porcelain and prehistoric ceramics.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Slovenian Minister of Culture Anton Persak said on the exhibitions came in time to forge the modern silk-road connecting China and Slovenia with their cultural heritages.
