6.5-magnitude quake strikes off central Indonesia, no tsunami alert issued

JAKARTA, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- A shallow under-land quake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale rocked Lombok Island in central Indonesia on Sunday.

The earthquake did not trigger a potential for tsunami, official of meteorology and geophysics agency Pambagiao told Xinhua over phone.
