7.1-magnitude earthquake hits Loyalty Islands: CENC

BEIJING, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- A 7.1-magnitude earthquake hit the Loyalty Islands in the Pacific at 11:51 a.m. Wednesday Beijing Time, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).

The epicenter was monitored at 21.95 degrees south latitude and 170.1 degrees east longitude.

The quake struck at a depth of about 20 km.
