CARACAS, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- There have been 88 corruption accusations against personnel at the state-run oil corporation Petroleos de Venezuela, S.A.(PDVSA) since August 2017, Venezuela's public prosecutor Tarek William Saab said on Wednesday.
"Among those 88 accusations there are two final sentences, two factual admissions and three individuals who have accepted the charges," Saab said.
He added that some had fled justice in Venezuela and are "living comfortably in the United States." The government will work with Interpol to ask for their deportation.
"There will be Red Notices from Interpol and an international arrest warrant, and it is our duty to bring these individuals here. Once they complete a prison sentence, the civil part of retrieving the stolen money will begin," he said.
"As I estimate, in a prudential period, perhaps before the end of the year, we will have the respective convictions, setting the precedent that this does not happen again in the country," he said.
In June, 11 PDVSA managers were arrested, bringing the total to 90 officials arrested for corruption.
