BEIRUT, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon's economic bodies and the General Labor Union (GLU) are considering to plan demonstrations to press political parties to form a government, local newspaper Al Jumhuriya reported Thursday.
"Economic bodies, GLU and free trade unions are seriously considered taking escalated measures that could reach the level of declaring civil disobedience to put big pressure on politicians," according to Al Jumhuriya.
Sources told Al Jumhuriya that the economic situation in Lebanon is more than bad and any further delay in government formation will cause a disaster in financial situation in the country.
Lebanon's economic bodies announced earlier in August that they will not spare any efforts to take necessary measures to stop the economy from deteriorating further.
Lebanese Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri has been facing various hurdles to form a 30-member national unity government over the representations of the main Christian parties, the Druze sect and the Sunni representations from outside Hariri's Future Movement.
Local economists warned on several occasions against the negative repercussions of any delay in cabinet formation. .
