Chinese shares up more than 4 pct at midday

BEIJING, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- China's major stock indices rose more than 4 percent in the morning session Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 4.17 percent to finish at 2,656.87 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index gained 5.04 percent to end at 7,760.08 points at midday.
