RAMALLAH, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas warned on Sunday that the Palestinian people are going through one of the most dangerous stages and are going to make decisions that are very important and difficult.
Abbas's remarks were made in a speech addressed before a two-day meeting of the Palestinian Central Council, or the parliament of Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) in Ramallah.
"The stage we are going through is one of the most dangerous stages in the life of the Palestinian people. Therefore, we are going to make decisions that are very important and difficult," said Abbas in the speech aired live on Palestine TV.
Abbas slammed the Islamic Hamas movement, which has been ruling the Gaza Strip since 2007, as well as other factions who boycotted the central council meeting.
He said that the U.S.' plan for peace in the Middle East, known as "Deal of the Century," aims to divide the Palestinian people and the Palestinian territories and it won't pass.
"We won't accept the expression which says Jerusalem is the capital of the two states. Jerusalem and Palestine are not for sale," said the president, stressing that "East Jerusalem is our capital."
Abbas announced that the Palestinian Authority rejected the Israeli decision which called for not paying money to the families of Palestinians killed or imprisoned.
He also reiterated that Israeli settlements in the West Bank is unacceptable.
"We are standing before a crucial historic stage, which is to be or not to be," said Abbas, adding that "the U.S. has already implemented its 'Deal of the Century' plan."
Abbas ended his speech by saying that "what else remained? They said refugees are 40,000 only, they stopped financing the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, they moved the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem and they recognized the city as the capital of Israel."
