COPENHAGEN, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese art troupe put on a gala performance here on Monday evening to celebrate the upcoming Chinese Spring Festival of the Year of the Pig.
The gala, staged at the concert hall of the Royal Danish Academy of Music, was presented by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles (CFLAC) that excels at acrobatics and group dancing.
Featuring rich Chinese culture with its different regional characteristics, the performance featured acrobatics and music ensembles, group dances and magic.
The performance opened with an acrobatics performance with artists jumping through a series of hoops of different sizes and heights using various body skills, just like soaring dragons and leaping tigers.
The shows combined traditional Chinese dancing styles with fascinating acrobatic skills, presenting a visual and cultural feast to the audience.
They also thrilled the audience by performing a ballet. A ballerina performed classic ballet movements with her toes on the back, shoulder and head on top of her partner, combining the beauty of ballet and that of acrobatics in a perfect manner.
The last acrobatics performance combined a fan dance, Tai Chi and Chinese martial arts. This work won golden prizes in a number of international acrobatics competitions.
More than 1,000 guests, including Chinese Ambassador to Denmark Deng Ying and Danish Cultural Minister Mette Bock attended the gala. Among the attendees were diplomatic envoys from Denmark, leaders of local Chinese communities, Chinese students studying in Denmark and Chinese business representatives.
The performance has been held in Denmark for 18 consecutive years, with a professional art troupe from China visiting Denmark every year, which has been well received by Danish audiences.
This year's events will also be held in the Danish cities of Horsens, Soenderborg, Ballerup and Aarhus until Jan. 27.
