WINDHOEK, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- Five Namibia anglers will be taking part in the 4th Sport Fishing World Championships of the International Sport Fishing Confederation (CIPS) in South Africa from Feb. 8 to 17.
The event is hosted in South Africa by South African Sport Anglers and Casting Confederation at 19 different venues all over South Africa, public relations officer of Namibia Federation for Fresh Water Anglers, Andrew Hill said in an exclusive interview Thursday.
"South Africa have also been given the unique opportunity, by CIPS to allow two exhibition events, during the Sport Fishing World Championships. Two of our member associations will take part in these events."
"Namibia Freshwater Bank Angling Association member will be participating in the Freshwater Bank Fishing exhibition event, on the Vaal dam and Namibia Light Tackle Boat Freshwater Angling Association will be participating in the Light Tackle Boat Sea Fishing Exhibition event at Mosselbay, South Africa. This participation was sanctioned by the Namibia Federation for Sea Anglers," said Hill.
Hill also said that the team has trained very well and are hopeful that they will bring medals back home.
Furthermore, the team will be sent off officially to the championship by the Namibian Sports Commission officials after they are awarded national colors on 5 February in Windhoek.
