BEIJING, April 12 (Xinhua) -- China handled 673 cases of violations in cultural relics fields committed by organizations in a national special campaign between 2016 and 2018, the National Cultural Heritage Administration said.
The administration said in a statement Friday that it also directly oversaw the handling of 313 cases over the three years.
A total of 74 people have been held criminally accountable for the violations.
The statement also called on cultural heritage administrative and law enforcement agencies to better perform their duties.
Unlike individual violations, organizations' cultural heritage violations usually involve damage to a greater extent, such as illegal construction and real estate development projects near heritage sites or illegal destruction of historic structures.
