BEIJING, July 19 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese version of the classic musical "Mamma Mia!" is being staged at the Shanghai Grand Theater starting on Friday.
Chinese is the 14th language version of "Mamma Mia!" since it debuted in London in 1999. The musical will be performed in Shanghai until August 4.
"Mamma Mia!" tells the tale of a young woman about to get married on a Greek island who is on a quest to discover her real father.
The musical has been performed worldwide over the past two decades with sales topping 2 billion U.S. dollars. The Chinese version has toured 24 cities in China and attracted more than 600,000 viewers since its debut in 2011.
