BEIJING, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- The results from the state visit to China by El Salvador's president once again showed the cooperation between China and Latin American countries is by no means a "trap," but offers mutual benefits.
El Salvador's President Nayib Armando Bukele Ortez on Friday concluded his state visit to China, with a consensus reached to expand bilateral cooperation in various fields, including infrastructure construction, agriculture and technology.
However, some U.S. official deliberately smeared such kind of cooperation as a "trap," reflecting the U.S. double standards and unbalanced mentality.
China and Latin American countries are equal in the international community and have the right to choose their cooperation partners. The two sides have complementary advantages and huge cooperation potential.
Only the people of both sides know best about what the relations bring them. The U.S. smearing does not hold water in the presence of the fruitful results of the Sino-Latin American cooperation.
Relations between China and Latin America have seen rapid development in recent years. China established diplomatic ties with Panama, the Dominican Republic and El Salvador between 2017 and 2018, and 19 Latin American countries have signed documents with China on Belt and Road cooperation.
China is the second-largest trade partner for Latin America, and Chinese enterprises have created over 1.8 million jobs in the region.
From railways to ports, from high-tech products to financial services, the cooperation in multiple fields has brought real benefits to the people of both sides.
The cooperation between China and Latin America is based on the principles of equality and mutual respect and does not target any third party. China is willing to expand the cooperation on the basis of respecting the wills of countries in the region.
China always respects the choices of Latin American people without interfering with the internal affairs of any country. The two sides have been working together to build a community with a shared future.
The fruitful cooperation is strong evidence that real partners work together without additional conditions and solve problems in development with an open mind and as equals.
