China's achievements in sports during last 70 years

Xing Weining of China competes during a game against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea at the 8th FIBA World Basketball Championships in Manila, the Philipines in October 1978. It was the first time China took part in the event and finished 11th. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC). On April 5, 1959, Rong Guotuan won the champion of the men's singles event at the 25th ITTF World Table Tennis Championships in Dortmund, Germany, becoming China's first ever world champion.
